Thinking about a nap?

Well, better not look at your cushions then, since your laughter surely won't let you sleep a minute.

Thanks, Cora!

Your blog is recommanded to me by my friend.
So when you post about the wrong English translations, could you show the correct ones? It will be really helpful for Chinese readers like me.

Dear Fei,

I'll see what I can do.

The particular entry you chose right now, nevertheless, is a good example for what kind of difficulties you face when trying to "correct" it. The thing is, that Chinglish for me isn't necessarily wrong in the grammar sense, but another way of dealing with foreign languages, in this case English.

"A friend is a better thing" basically needs to be analyzed from a rather philosophical than linguistic point of view, what does the author wants to say with that really? And that's where a lot of the fun really hides. "A better thing than what?" or "A better thing" as "better than merely a thing" and so on...
So to correct these rather indigenious examples would spoil the fun, but I try to add some corrections to others.

Best,

olr.

I read the news abt u and yr web from www.xinhuanet.com--China's national and official news website 2 or 3 days ago. Today I got yr url in a bbs.

My question is the words in the photos don't make sense to me, why it is funny, what did the writer (producer)originally want to say?

If u think it is hard to correct them, at least I hope u could tell we Chinese what are the original meanings the producer wanted to express.

In a word, I didn't see what was wrong within the 2 photos.

"Your friend is a better thing" compares a human being to a thing. This is just my guess.

By the way, in your comment, you used the word producer several times. I think you meant "manufacturer" although there is nothing wrong with "producer".
